DORO PESCH ANNOUNCES TWO U.S. DVD RELEASE SHOWS THIS FALL
July 26, 2011

In 2008, legendary metal queen, DORO PESCH, celebrated her 25th anniversary concert at the ISS Dome in her hometown of Dusseldorf, Germany. With over 8,500 people in attendance, the magical, full-documented performance included guest appearances by Overkill’s Bobby “Blitz” Ellsworth, Grave Digger’s Chris Boltendahl, former Nightwish singer Tarja Turunen, Scorpions’ Klaus Meine and Rudolf Schenker, Liv Kristine (Leaves’ Eyes), Floor Jansen (After Forever), Axel Rudi Pell and many others. The set was recorded in its entirety and resulted in the mammoth 25 Years In Rock 2 DVD/CD set which includes the once-on-a-lifetime concert as well as out-takes from DORO’s 2,500th concert and more. 25 Years In Rock will finally be available to North American fans on September 13, 2011 via Nuclear Blast Records.
In conjunction with the Stateside release, DORO will perform two special shows – her previously announced appearance in New York City on September 9th and an additional show in Chicago on September 11. Both nights will include clips from the DVD, limited edition merchandise and an autograph session followed by a performance by the metal queen herself. Tickets are on sale now through all local ticket outlets!

In related news, PESCH recently did a short run of shows in Spain with Dio Disciples filling in for singer Tim “Ripper” Owens. Dio Disciples is the new project featuring former Dio members Rudy Sarzo (bass), Simon Wright (drums), Craig Goldy (guitar) and Scott Warren (keyboards), along with Owens and additional singer Toby Jepson, who pay tribute to legendary vocalist, Ronnie James Dio. Owens was unable to make the Spanish shows to celebrate his daughter’s wedding.

Hey, headbangers… here’s your chance to win an awesome digitally remastered version of Megadeth’s 1986 classic “Peace Sells.. But Who’s Buying?” plus an amazing 3-D autographed litho signed by Dave Mustaine.
Here’s what you can win:
• 10 runners up receive the 2CD box set of “Peace Sells…But Who’s Buying?”

What are you waiting for?
Megadeth’s vital, Platinum-certified album, Peace Sells… But Who’s Buying?, has been digitally remastered for the first time and expanded for a commemorative 25th Anniversary release in multiple configurations on July 12 by Capitol/EMI.
All of the versions, including a 2CD lift-top box, digital album, and a deluxe 5Disc+3LP box set, include a previously unreleased 1987 concert from the band’s first world tour and new liner notes written by Megadeth’s Dave Mustaine and Metallica’s Lars Ulrich.
In his liner notes for the new edition, Dave Mustaine reflects on writing the album’s title track: “I had written other lyrics by now, but there was something different about ‘Peace Sells’ because it told my story about my faith; my beliefs; my distrust of government; my work ethic; my integrity. This was MY song.”
Released in 1986, Peace Sells… But Who’s Buying? was Megadeth’s second album and the band’s first Capitol/EMI release. The acclaimed album thrust Megadeth into the international spotlight, and it remains a powerful thrash metal staple.
Megadeth is currently on tour in Europe. On April 23, Megadeth will again join forces with Metallica, Slayer, and Anthrax for The Big Four Festival in Indio, California, and The Big Four have confirmed several European shows for July. Megadeth will also play more than 20 North American dates in July and August on the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival with Disturbed, Godsmack, Machine Head, In Flames and Trivium.

Dee,
I would be more than grateful if you could please play “Crazy Nights” by Kiss for me. I’ve been listening to Kiss since I was a kid! They’ve been my favorite band for as long as I can remember, and I just fulfilled my dream when I went backstage and met them at their concert in Hershey last year. It was a night I will never forget, and this song has been a favorite of mine for a long time. Of course, I love all of the songs by Kiss, but this one stands out to me like no other. I would be so happy if you’d play it for me. Thanks again! You rock!

Def Leppard Post Tribute to Joe Elliott’s Late Father: A tribute to Joe Elliott Sr.
July 12, 2011
As most of you are probably aware of by now, sadly Joe Elliott’s father, Joe Elliott Sr., passed away last week.
Here is a touching tribute to him by Malvin Mortimer (Def Leppard’s tour manager) on Leppard’s website. You can read the entire letter here: A tribute to Joe Elliott Sr. – by Malvin Mortimer (friend & tour manager)
“At the age of 18 Joe had an opportunity to join a band. The band met regularly in Joe’s bedroom in the family home in Sheffield, UK- with the full support of his parents.
That band came to be known as Def Leppard.
In 1978 Joe asked his dad for some help to finance the recording and release of the first few songs written by the young and up and coming musicians. Joe senior put up 150 UK pounds. (at that time, about $500.) They recorded at Fairview studios in Hull, East Yorkshire, it cost 148.50 and with the loose change they shared fish and chips on the way home. (Joe’s mother Cindy played guitar and taught Joe his first few chords, Joe Sr. actually recorded, on a primitive cassette device, Joe’s first ever song. Joe was eight years old. The song was entitled “Goin’ Forever”).
Joe Senior will be missed by Cindy, Joe and all of us that knew him.”
Here is a photo of Joe’s Dad & Mum with the band backstage at New Jersey’s Meadowlands (1988)

Win a VIP experience with Night Ranger – Part Deux!
July 11, 2011
CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR NIGHT RANGER WINNERS…Round Deux!
Congrats to the following winners in part two of our recent Night Ranger giveaway. All have scored autographed copies of Night Ranger’s new studio album, Somewhere In California.
High fives to grand prize winner KZLE/Batesville, AR, listener Angie in Mountain Home, AR, who also scores two VIP tickets plus backstage passes to meet the band at a show of her choice; a JBL Cinema home theater speaker system worth over $800, and an autographed Solid Body Classic electric guitar from Taylor Guitars.
Angie’s winning entry:
“I’ve been a fan of Night Ranger since I was a teenager. I was pretty convinced when the song ‘When You Close Your Eyes’ came on the radio, they were singing directly to me: ‘Angie, come closer to me.’ My best friend back then, also an Angie, was pretty certain it was for her. Regardless, no hairbrush microphone was immune when that song played.
Now I’m (gulp) 42 years old, married and have a grown son. We often take road trips and it never seems to fail that on one particular road, just outside of our town, ‘Sister Christian’ will play. It has been aptly dubbed by my husband as the ‘Sister Christian Highway.’
And don’t for one second think that just because we drive a minivan we don’t turn it up as loud as our little speakers will allow! Winning this would not only be ‘totally awesome’ but it would make me feel like a kid again! Oh, and, as a plus, I could tell my best friend, Angie, that they really were singing ‘When You Close Your Eyes’ to me!”
Nine winners receive Night Ranger’s new album, Somewhere In California:
Jerod Caddell – Newberg, OR – KFBW 105.9 The Brew
Tom Christopher – Longview, WA – KFBW 105.9 The Brew

Dee, I need your help! I’ve been bangin’ my head since the mid ’80s and while I only listen to music I can break stuff to, my 8 year old son, Nicholas, is starting to stray to the musical black hole of hip hop. He used to ask me to play Black Sabbath and now he’s asking for Black Eyed Peas! Sheeeesh!
I was lucky enough to see Cinderella open for AC/DC back in ‘88 and “Shelter Me” is one of my favorite tunes of all time, from the killer blues guitar intro to the kick-ass chorus. I know if I can get him to hear this song he will come to the dark side once again. Nicholas and I have our sledge hammers in hand and we’re just waiting for you to cue it up!!!!
Thanks, Dee.
