  I need to thank you man. Because of you, I re-found my love of listening to music. When I was growing up in the town of Norfolk, Nebraska, the only music I was exposed to (thanks to my mom) was country. At first it was okay, but as I got older, I started to hate it…it was too slow for my tastes. But then I started my first real job and discovered a whole different kind of music that was what my heart needed, and that was rock! A short while later I heard your show, and I was loving it. Because of the House of Hair, I started to listen to all the great bands that ever graced the stage — your band included. One of my favorites was and still is Dio. It saddens me that I started listening to his music just before he died. He will be missed. Could you play “Holy Diver” for us tonight, to honor that great man? Thanks, Dee!

• Dee, I listen to your show and wish for the days of when metal was back on the radio. I remembered a band that faded out as quickly as they appeared. They were called Giant and had one rocking hit on the radio, if I recall. Can you play “I’m A Believer” from Giant? Good rocking tune, great guitars and a great lead singer (not as good as you, though)!

  My annoying neighbors always blast their country music and it annoys the crap out of my whole family including me. I’m sick and tired of hearing it, so I thought I could blast my music and maybe out the window just so I don’t have to listen to songs like “There’s A Tear In My Beer.” That’s why I’m requesting “Rainbow in the Dark” by Dio. Phil Kenemore of Y&T has died of cancer

The HOH has just learned that Phil Kenemore of Y&T passed away this morning. Our condolences to his family and the band. He will be missed by all in the metal community.

Here’s the note we received from Y&T,

It is with great sadness that I tell you Phil passed away this morning at 1:00 AM. The band, Dave & I, and Phil’s family were all there by his side as he took his final breath. Dave & I are completely spent (it’s now after 4:00 AM), and our hearts are shattered. Dave wrote a brief note, which you can read here and post a comment if you’d like.

Y&T’s Dave Meniketti’s Goodbye to Phil

He was alert and talking and holding my hand, and then barely 24 hours later he’s gone. It’s so hard to believe.
