Dee,
I’m a 52 year-old headbangin’ father of four who used to see Twisted Sister play at Long Island clubs like Speaks in Island Park (and many others I have forgotten) when you and your Sisters were a starving local band, before you found fame and fortune. Now I listen to the House of Hair at 10pm on Saturday nights while driving to work. MY LIFE SUCKS! I do enjoy the show though and have a request. Since the Scorpions have announced they are retiring following their current final farewell tour, and with New York City’s famous Times Square in the news recently due to a bomb scare, I think it’s only fitting the House of Hair honors both the Scorps and Times Square by playing a song written by Rudolf Schenker and Klaus Meine about New York’s hallowed ground, where Broadway crosses 42nd Street. It’s known as “The Crossroads of the World”, but the Scorpions call it “The Zoo.” Thanks, bro!

Dee,
Before I deployed to go over to Afghanistan, on the weekend my friends and I would work sidejobs and help each other out. We’re all electricians and would do sidework on the weekend. Usually every Sunday I’d carry my tools as well as a hangover from the night before into wherever we’d be working. I, as well as my friends, would always get pumped when the HOH was on and it’d give us all a big lift and we’d kick ass and get shit done and rock out. It was awesome, man. Thanks for keeping it real, man! I can’t wait to get outta here and get back home and relive them moments that don’t seem like much until you’re away. Thanks, brother, and keep kicking ASS.

As OZZY OSBOURNE gears up for the August 14 launch of the 2010 OZZFest, the multi-platinum, Grammy Award-winning, Rock and Roll Hall of Famer has released “Life Won’t Wait,” the second single from his worldwide smash Epic Records album SCREAM, which entered the charts in June in the Top Ten in more than 10 countries. The video for the hard-hitting and melodic life-affirming song is being directed by OZZY’s son, Jack Osbourne, and it was shot last week at various locations in Los Angeles.
At the same time, OZZY’s first-ever official free iTunes app–simply called OZZY–is available now and allows fans to enter the world of The Prince of Darkness. Users can experience music from OZZY’s 30-year solo career with access to a full discography featuring direct links to his iTunes page for a one-stop link to purchase of any song or album from his catalog. In addition, once downloaded, users can view music videos and photo galleries, access OZZY’s current concert dates and buy tickets for upcoming shows, or can instantly post comments and photos from shows they’ve just attended. The OZZY app is fully integrated with his official Twitter feed and has direct links to all of his other social networking sites as well as Ozzy’s official online store.
SCREAM is OZZY’s first album in three years and 10th studio album overall. He recorded most of it at his Los Angeles home studio, The Bunker. It was produced by OZZY and Kevin Churko, both of whom did the same honors for OZZY’s 2007 worldwide million-seller Black Rain. OZZY co-wrote all the songs on SCREAM, primarily with Churko.

GuitarTown on The Sunset Strip to Launch Thursday, Aug 12
August 9, 2010
IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE COMPLETION OF THE SUNSET STRIP BEAUTIFICATION PROJECT
Businesses To Host A Block Party With Patio Parties, Live Music, Extended Shopping Hours, Discounts & Drink Specials
The Sunset Strip Business Association and Gibson, in partnership with the City of West Hollywood and the West Hollywood Marketing & Visitors Bureau, are pleased to announce the official unveiling of GuitarTown on The Sunset Strip is set for Thursday, August 12 from 5 p.m. – 11 p.m. GuitarTown is a public art project that features 26 ten-foot tall fiberglass Gibson Les Paul model guitars. The oversized Gibson guitar sculptures were created by local and nationally-acclaimed visual artists, with each guitar sculpture celebrating a musician, personality, or influential moment unique to The Sunset Strip’s history and Gibson Guitar. The guitars will be strategically placed along the 1.6-mile Sunset Strip in West Hollywood.
The day’s events will kick off at 5 p.m. with the grand “re-opening” of The Strip, featuring a caravan of classic cars and a ribbon cutting by West Hollywood City Councilmembers. The “re-opening” follows the seven month Sunset Strip Beautification Project that included such improvements as repaving the boulevard for the first time in 75 years, repairing and expanding sidewalks and crosswalks to enhance the pedestrian experience and planting new trees along the 1.6 mile stretch.
At 6 p.m., a news conference will take place at the Rainbow Bar & Grill announcing the artists who created the GuitarTown sculptures. Following the press conference, guests and visitors are invited to enjoy the nightlong Block Party on The Sunset Strip from 6 p.m. – 11 p.m., featuring patio parties, live music, drink specials, extended shopping hours and discounts at participating businesses.
“We are thrilled to celebrate the completion of the Sunset Strip Beatification Project and the unveiling of GuitarTown on the world-famous Sunset Strip. This unique public art exhibit will showcase the dynamic cultural and musical history of The Sunset Strip. It will also provide an opportunity to promote some of the incredible businesses that call The Sunset Strip home. GuitarTown will give our visitors yet another reason to get out and explore this legendary destination,” said West Hollywood Mayor John Heilman.
The 26 ten-foot art guitars that make up GuitarTown on The Sunset Strip include themes such as the jazz era on The Strip, the ’60s counterculture movement and the glamour and glitz of the boulevard, as well pieces celebrating Slash, The Doors, Mötley Crüe and Sunset Strip nightclub founders Lou Adler, Mario Maglieri and Elmer Valentine (The Roxy Theatre, Whisky A Go-Go and Rainbow Bar & Grill). Each piece also utilizes its own medium from painting to sculpture and photography. The artists were selected by a committee composed of community leaders, business representatives, City staff and members of the arts community.
Gibson GuitarTown on The Sunset Strip will be on display for the next six months. After the guitars complete their “tour” of The Strip, they will then be sold at a Gala Auction with all proceeds benefitting nonprofit organizations and charities.
In addition to the unveiling of GuitarTown, The Sunset Strip is hosting a Block Party on August 12, with businesses along the boulevard hosting events including a patio reception with DJ, drinks and historic photo exhibit at The Comedy Store; patio parties with live music and dining specials at Joe’s Pizza and Sunset Deli; live music and drink specials at Red Rock; wine tastings at Nonna Of Italy; all-night happy hour at The Olive Kitchen + Bar, Dukes West Hollywood and Carney’s; extended happy hour at BLT Steak, RH at Andaz, The London Bar and The Standard; extended shopping hours and discounts at Miriam Claudette, Nicole, Nicole Miller and Mystery Pier Books; and more.
“The Block Party is a great way to invite people back to The Sunset Strip following the construction, and introduce them to the many improvements that enhance this storied boulevard,” noted Todd Steadman, executive director of the Sunset Strip Business Association. “In recent weeks we’ve noticed more people out, walking and enjoying the newly renovated Strip, and we look forward to welcoming locals and visitors alike this month with GuitarTown and the Sunset Strip Music Festival August 26-28.”
GuitarTown on The Sunset Strip is supported by Gibson Guitar, the Sunset Strip Business Association, West Hollywood Marketing & Visitors Bureau and the City of West Hollywood.
For more information about Gibson GuitarTown, please visit Gibson.com/sunset-strip.

About The Sunset Strip Beautification Project
Sunset Boulevard, also known as “The Sunset Strip” in true “West Hollywood style” is one of the most famous and glamorous streets in the world. In January 2010, Sunset Boulevard started to undergo a facelift after more than 75 years of use. The roadway had not been repaved since the County of Los Angeles replaced the original dirt road with concrete in the 1930s. The City of West Hollywood’s Sunset Strip Beautification Project included: roadway resurfacing using rubberized asphalt recycled from scrapped tires, replacement of broken and damaged sidewalks, traffic signal upgrades, adding new medians, trees, sidewalk widening at Sunset Plaza and pedestrian enhancements. The $5.4 million project created or saved more than 228 jobs. For more information about the Sunset Strip Beautification Project, visit www.weho.org/sunsetproject.

Hey, Dee! Me and my boys listen every weekend on Y-108 Hamilton, Ontario. They love metal! Aiden is 10, Rowan is 3 and I still crank out the metal every Sunday morning at breakie on your show. We would love to hear W.A.S.P. `s “Wild Child.” I still remember blasting this song out in my bedroom and having my parents yell at me to turn it down. Oh, how the times have changed! I can`t say I yell to turn it down…I yell to turn it up. So could you please play this song? It will make their Sunday morning breakfast a blast.
Thanks!

FORTHCOMING QUIET RIOT DOCUMENTARY TO GO BEHIND THE SCENES CIRCA CRAZED ‘METAL HEALTH’ ERA – FANS ASKED TO HELP RAISE FUNDS
August 6, 2010
Without a doubt, THE heavy metal success story of the early ’80s was none other than Quiet Riot. After years of struggling in LA clubs (despite legendary guitarist Randy Rhoads being in their ranks throughout the ’70s), the classic QR line-up of Kevin DuBrow (vocals), Frankie Banali (drums), Rudy Sarzo (bass), and Carlos Cavazo (guitar) hit mega-success with their first-ever US release in 1983, the classic ‘Metal Health.’ Spawning two hit singles that have gone on to become synonymous with heavy metal – “Cum On Feel the Noize” and “Metal Health” – the ‘Metal Health’ album went on to become the first-ever metal US debut to hit the #1 spot on the Billboard album charts, and resulted in a solid year of sold-out shows and non-stop MTV video airplay.
Despite this being an absolute standout era of the band’s career, very little substantial video documentation has surfaced. That is…until now. Banali is in the midst of constructing a full-length/behind-the-scenes/warts-and-all documentary about the group (the first-ever solely about QR), which will focus on this aforementioned era, but also, recount QR’s entire story – from the first time DuBrow and Banali crossed paths in January 1980, through DuBrow’s untimely passing in November of 2007.
The video footage – directly from Banali’s archives – will include the aforementioned performance in 1980 through some of the last shows QR played, including footage of their Rocklahoma performance in 2007.
Additional video footage captures QR in many phases, including a 1982 performance of “DuBrow” (a short-lived name Quiet Riot went by in the early ’80s), with DuBrow, Banali, bassist Chuck Wright (Sarzo was playing in Ozzy Osbourne’s band at the time), and Cavazo’s first video performance with the band, his second total. Also included will be live performances, backstage footage, sound checks, studio sessions, and interviews – most of which has never been seen.
Banali has already invested money into the project, and to make the documentary reach its full potential, he is having an online fundraiser that ends September 2nd.
Fans are being called upon to help back the project, and lend a hand in its completion.
Via the link below, is a list of the different increments you can pledge – all of which give rewards of QR-related merchandise, and as the pledge amount increases, so do the rewards (including such simply awesome items such as an autographed QR photo that includes the late DuBrow’s signature, a personal drum lesson with Banali in LA, dinner with Banali at the Rainbow in LA, your own personalized ‘Metal Health’ platinum CD award, your name in the film’s credits, amongst many other cool opportunities).
As Banali says, “The moment my friend Kevin DuBrow died, my life and career went from sixty to zero with his final breath.”
But now, DuBrow and Quiet Riot will receive a much-deserved video retrospective, that will leave no stone unturned.
Get ready to bang your head and feel the noize once more!
The first stages of putting the documentary together are now underway, and a “teaser” clip of what to expect has been posted here.

Hey Dee,
Every Saturday night me and a bunch of my friends go down by the Mississippi River and jam out to the House of Hair for two hours until midnight. We love kicking back by the river and listening to your high voltage metal melt our brains. I’ve spent most of my weekends for the past few years jammin’ out with you and all you other metalheads! How about this week you play a little Metallica for me and the guys when we are down by the Miss? That would rock our world! Thanks, Dee, and remember…if it ain’t metal, IT’S CRAP!
