Hey, Dee! What’s happening? I am a 37 year old metal head originally from NYC who moved to Arizona. I was very happy to discover the HOH recently on KDKB in Phoenix! I try to listen every time the House of Hair is on. You play all the great tunes! However, there is one band I hardly ever hear on either of the hairband stations I listen to and that is Hurricane. I wonder why? During the ass-kicking headbanging hairband time, they had two popular songs that were always played and their videos were on Headbanger’s Ball, too. The two songs were “I’m On To You” and “Livin’ Over the Edge.” Kelly Hansen, who is currently with Foreigner, has a great voice and I would like to hear it on the radio again, please. Thanks so much and I will keep on rockin’ for you!

a one of a kind rock auction will benefit cancer research.
Ft. Lauderdale, FL (May 25, 2010) – Legendary rockers Cinderella, Vince Neil and Tesla headline the second installment of ShipRocked, the ultimate Rock n’ Roll music fan experience at sea, November 11-14, 2010. Cinderella makes their ShipRocked debut, showcasing their raspy hard rock blues, while Motley Crue frontman Vince Neil returns to the seven seas with all the Crue and solo hits in tow. Not to be outdone, and by popular demand, California rockers Tesla return as the “passenger favorites” from 2009’s maiden voyage.
“ShipRocked 2010 will be wall-to-wall music for three days and nights, giving fans the rare opportunity to listen to and hang out with multiple generations of rock legends. With 14 acts performing on multiple stages onboard, there’s enough music for whatever your mood desires,” says promoter Alan Koenig of ASK4 Entertainment. Main support comes from platinum metalheads Drowning Pool and Sevendust, along with modern rock phenom 10 Years, southern metal boogie rockers Black Stone Cherry. In addition, the rock never lets up as The Letter Black, Aranda, Lynam, Broken Teeth, Niki Barr Band and Pianotarium bring up the stern of this floating festival.
The setting is the MSC Poesia (Italy) one of the cruise industry’s most acclaimed new vessels. It all begins in Fort Lauderdale, FL, visiting the premier Bahamian port, Nassau with a special stop at the pristine private island of Coco Cay Bay. Exuding her Italian roots, the Poesia features include the luxurious Aqua Spa, two pools, four Jacuzzis, a state-of-the-art cardio gym, salon, sushi bar, wine tasting bar, Teatro Carlo Felice, a beautiful, 3-level, Las Vegas-style theater, plus additional stages on deck and around the ship for both bands and passengers to enjoy all night long!
Prices start at only $599 per person, double occupancy and include exclusive access to all ShipRocked concerts and special events, deluxe stateroom, meals, ship activities, ship entertainment and much, much more! Space is very limited so early booking is encouraged.
In addition, a special charity auction of one-of-a-kind rock music memorabilia will be featured. All money raised will go towards cancer research, in honor of hard rock music legend Ronnie James Dio, who recently passed away.

Sevendust, 10 Years, Black Stone Cherry and Aranda Join ShipRocked!

THE SOUTH INVADES SHIPROCKED!
Just when you thought the ultimate rock and roll vacation couldn’t get any bigger, better or harder, along come four Southern based bands to round out the ShipRocked 2010 lineup and to rock our collective asses in November!
Atlanta’s own SEVENDUST lead the way, having recently released their infections seventh studio album Hope & Sorrow, which features the hit single “Unraveling.” Be sure to catch them this weekend at Rock On The Range, and next weekend at Rocklahoma. Then all summer long, they’ll be touring as part of the Carnival Of Madness Tour, with Shinedown, Chevelle, Puddle Of Mudd, and… 10 Years!
10 YEARS hail from Knoxville, Tennessee, and join the ShipRocked lineup just as they are putting the finishing touches on their third album Feeding The Wolves. The highly anticipated project is being helmed by Grammy nominated producer Howard Benson (My Chemical Romance, Flyleaf, Seether). The band will also be on the road as part of the Carnival Of Madness Tour!
BLACK STONE CHERRY might be from Kentucky, but they have toured the world over, delivering their Southern heritage with a mix of heavy, loud guitars, larger than life drumming and lyrical storytelling. Their latest album Folklore and Superstition enlisted famed rock producer Bob Marlette (Ozzy, Shinedown, Quiet Riot), to help meld the traditions of their roots, with some vintage arena rock. Wait until you see these boys play!
Listening to Oklahoma City’s ARANDA is something like hearing an explosive hybrid of the atom bomb and all of Woodstock combined. They are an experience. Brothers Dameon and Gabe are no strangers to sharing the stage with big names in rock: during the past year, they have performed with hit bands such as the All American Rejects, Saliva, Shinedown, Puddle of Mudd, Theory of a Deadman, and Black Stone Cherry.
ShipRocked couldn’t be more proud to add these four amazing bands to our lineup for 2010, which of course already includes Cinderella, Vince Neil, Tesla, and Drowning Pool. Onboard you’ll also see The Letter Black featuring Mark “Traa” Daniels from P.O.D., LYNAM, Broken Teeth, Niki Barr Band and Pianotarium! — Seriously… how kick ass is this lineup?!?!
Wanna Get ShipRocked right NOW? CLICK HERE to save time and BOOK ONLINE. Prices start at only $499 per passengers (based on double occupancy, and subject to availability), and include exclusive access to all ShipRocked concerts and activities, deluxe stateroom, meals, ship activities, ship entertainment and much, much more!. You can make your reservation online any time of day or night! Or you can contact one of our ShipRocked agents by calling 888-370-9680. And remember, you must book your cabin through our website or by phone to gain admittance to all ShipRocked concerts and other events.

Dee, you should play Metallica’s “One” because it’s only one of the greatest songs of all time. I mean, come on. It’s about a dude who gets maimed by a mine and has no idea he’s just a vegetated torso. I mean, really, is there anything more metal? I do hope you agree.

May 17, 2010
FIRST-RUN OF CITIES FOR “WEEKEND WARRIOR” PACKAGES INCLUDES CHICAGO, PHILADELPHIA, SAN FRANCISCO AND DALLAS

Beginning October 15-17 in Chicago, ROCK ‘N’ ROLL FANTASY CAMP will offer aspiring musicians three-day “weekend warrior” packages in Philadelphia (Oct 22-24), San Francisco (Nov 5-7) before wrapping in Dallas (Nov 12-14). The acclaimed musical adventure takes attendees through grueling and joyful days like those of their favorite musicians. Each day a new thrilling challenge exists for the “rock campers” from the audition process, to forming bands, writing and recording music and finally culminating in a “battle of the bands” concert at a legendary venue in each city: Chicago (House of Blues), Philadelphia (The Trocadero), San Francisco (Fillmore) and Dallas (House of Blues).
Onboard to mentor the rock campers through their weekend-long musical adventures: lead counselor, guitarist Dickey Betts (co-founder of the Allman Brothers Band who will also be performing an exclusive show each of the weekend’s final nights), along with camp counselors Mark Farner (Grand Funk Railroad), Mark Hudson (Aerosmith), Kip Winger (Winger), Rudy Sarzo (Quiet Riot, Ozzy) and Sandy Gennaro (Joan Jett) and many others.
“These ‘weekend warrior’ passes will open up the unique Fantasy Camp weekend experience to a new audience,” says CAMP founder David Fishof. “By offering this opportunity close to home, the campers will be able to perform the final night concert surrounded by friends and family.”
Just prior to the U.S. “weekend warrior packages,” ROCK ‘N’ ROLL FANTASY CAMP will travel to the Bahamas for a destination Camp at the world famous Atlantis resort with Roger Daltrey from October 7-10.
Later this month, ROCK ‘N’ ROLL FANTASY CAMP will be in London for Memorial Day weekend. London campers will have the opportunity to rehearse and record at the legendary Abbey Road Studios before the week culminates with them taking the stage at the world’s most famous rock club, THE CAVERN in Liverpool, where the Beatles first made their name. Meantime, VH1 Classic’s weekly hour-long docu-series featuring 15 campers as they go through the transformative process of becoming “rock stars” will debut Friday, July 9.
For those looking for a Father’s day gift, Rock ‘n’ Roll Fantasy Camp (RRFC) “Weekend Warrior” packages start at $1999 for a once-in-a-lifetime weekend-long experience. For more information, please visit: www.rockcamp.com.

Bret Michaels to resume touring May 28
May 17, 2010

Singer Bret Michaels has confirmed on his website that he will return to the concert stage on May 28. His agent Brian Ahern adds that Michaels plans to reschedule dates cancelled during his stint in intensive care. “We have been overwhelmed with well wishes and offers that continue to pour in,” Ahern says. Michaels’ first date on his Custom Built Tour will be in Biloxi, MS at the Hard Rock Live venue. To prepare for resuming his heavy tour schedule, the Rock of Love/Celebrity Apprentice/Poison star has upped his rehab sessions to twice daily.
And, host/producer of Celebrity Apprentice, Donald Trump, said, “We really hope that Bret is well and able to join us at the finale on May 23. [Bret] is a fighter and strong competitor.”
But, Michaels will get an even bigger media hit when he sits down for an interview with the queen of all television, Oprah Winfrey, this Wednesday, May 19.
Go Bret!

Ronnie James Dio 1942 – 2010
May 16, 2010
The House of Hair is saddened to report the passing of metal legend Ronnie James Dio today (Sunday, May 16).
Wrote his wife (and manager), Wendy:
Today my heart is broken, Ronnie passed away at 7:45am 16th May. Many, many friends and family were able to say their private good-byes before he peacefully passed away. Ronnie knew how much he was loved by all. We so appreciate the love and support that you have all given us. Please give us a few days of privacy to deal with this terrible loss. Please know he loved you all and his music will live on forever.
- Wendy Dio
Dio, 67, was diagnosed with stomach cancer late last year. For many months, he had been traveling from Los Angeles to Houston for chemotherapy treatments. He was interviewed just a few weeks ago and was in positive spirits about his treatments.
Our thoughts are with his family, friends and many fans as we reflect on the loss of Ronnie, not only one of heavy metal’s greatest voices (Elf, Rainbow, Black Sabbath, Dio and Heaven & Hell), but one of its nicest people. You can leave your condolence message for Wendy on Ronnie’s Facebook Fan Page.
Keep an eye on the House Of Hair website and be sure to follow us on Twitter @houseofhair for updates, tributes and more information as it becomes available.
The House of Hair wants to do a proper tribute to Ronnie, so we will be collecting your requests, stories, anecdotes and recollections for the next few weeks at houseofhaironline.com for possible inclusion in our upcoming tribute show. If Ronnie James Dio had a special place in your heart, please let us know by sending us your info right here.
We are all shocked and saddened by the loss of one of Metal’s legendary performers. May his music live on forever!

Dee, what’s going on, bro? Happy belated birthday. I caught your show for the first time a few weeks ago. I heard Loudness’s “Crazy Nights” on the radio and thought, I’m sure I’ll be waking up any minute now, but no, it was for real. Thank the gods! Now, I’ve got it turned way up on Sunday morning disturbing the peace as I head out to my sparring class, so let me continue to disturb the peace this Sunday morning with D.A.D.’s “Sleeping My Day Away.” Why, you ask? Because it flat out rocks. You never heard these guys on the radio, ever. Even back in the day this was an obscure band on this side of the world which is a real shame; anyone lucky enough to know these guys knows what I’m talking about. So help me treat this side of the world to some kick-ass old school hair and turn this one up past 11 on your dial. Thanks!
