ARCANIUM KICK OFF THEIR NATIONAL TOUR WITH MEGADETH

September 30, 2009

Loveland, Colorado’s premier metal band Arcanium will be supporting Megadeth on their upcoming US tour.

Originally formed in March 2007, Arcanium, consisting of Sinn (Lead Vocals), Cate (Guitars, Vocals), The Mystress (Keyboards), Messiah (Bass, Vocals) and Thommy Razor (Drums, Programming), set forth to unleash an unabashed musical barrage on the on unsuspecting hard rock and metal fans worldwide. In their relatively short existence as a band, Arcanium has earned a respectably loyal fan base throughout the state of Colorado, and this forthcoming tour with Megadeth will surely solidify the band’s status as a formidable newcomer to the world of major league metal!

Arcanium display a wide array of musical styles that is
encompassed by an industrial-strength metal soundscape. This diversity is
clearly evident in their innovative musical structures supported by their
varying musical influences. Vocalist Sinn explains, “Our bass player Messiah
has a hellbilly-ish background, he’s really into Hank III, Clutch and stuff
like that whereas I’m more into the new age of metal like Slipknot and
Mudvayne. In contrast, Thommy and The Mystress come from a very
Gothic/industrial background and the fact that Thommy does all the samples
in our music it gives us a bit of that industrial edge. Cate is real into
heavy bands like Lamb Of God and Slayer but is also a huge fan of
‘shock-rock,’ whether it be classic rock bands like KISS or newer breed
bands like Marilyn Manson and Mushroom Head.” In fact, when the band first
started performing, guitarist Cate showed his underlying love for shock-rock
and wore a painted face onstage but he has since ditched the makeup for a
more traditional metal approach.

On the band’s full-length debut, *The Architects*, Arcanium
dishes up melodically haunting metal music with songs like “Gone
Away,” “Ruined,” “Strangled Heart,” and “The Knife.” The CD is released
through FIST Music worldwide and available via mail order on Amazon.com and
digitally through iTunes, Napster, Rhapsody, and the like. But it is the
band’s over-the-top live show and striking appearance that surely sets them apart from their contemporaries. The band’s energetic live performance has garnered them
several high-profile gigs opening for a wide-range of national acts from Hed
PE, Devil Driver and Devine Heresy to Dark Tranquility, In This Moment and
Firewind. And now, Arcanium will soon seize the opportunity of a lifetime
when they support the mighty Megadeth on their upcoming US tour.

The band recently completed a video for the track “Scarring the Mind” which showcases their savage live performance and eccentric personalities and also introduces their mascot Arnie, the two-horned creature you can find lurking about at their live shows. You can catch Arcanium on the road this November in support of Megadeth, Machine Head and Suicide Silence. Tour dates listed below.

What’s New – Week of September 21, 2009

September 21, 2009

All right, I’m almost done cleaning up the mess from last week’s show, so you might want to do some preparing of your own. But keep in mind: fall has arrived here at the House of Hair, so that means more leather, bigger hair and more hairspray! Can you ever really have enough?

Another bonus to the cooler temperatures: your neighbors call the cops a lot less frequently when you’re blasting the old school metal with the windows shut! And you can test out that theory this week with Judas Priest, Dio, Metallica and more. What about free stuff, you ask (ya pain in the ass)?!! Well, I’ve got that too! So you don’t want miss this week’s House of Hair!

Queensryche To Enlist Services of Lita Ford for American Soldier Tour

September 20, 2009

QUEENSRYCHE — who have been touring since late March in support of their newest effort American Soldier (Atco/Rhino) — will be taking The Queen of Heavy Metal, Lita Ford, on the road with them for over two dozen dates beginning October 15th (see full itinerary below).

Ford will hit the stage during the QUEENSRYCHE set to perform three songs including her Top 10 Billboard hit (performed with Ozzy Osbourne), “Close My Eyes Forever,” which she will duet with QUEENSRYCHE front man Geoff Tate.

For all songs, Lita will be backed by QUEENSRYCHE — Geoff Tate on vocals, Michael Wilton and Parker Lundgren on guitars, Eddie Jackson on bass and Scott Rockenfield on drums.

“We’re elated to have Lita Ford performing with us,” comments Geoff Tate. “I have been a fan of Lita’s as long as I can remember and look forward to the upcoming tour with her.”

The feeling is mutual as Lita comments, “I’m so excited about how we’re doing this tour. It’s a really cool way to do a show. I’m looking forward to getting out there and seeing my fans again as well as meeting Queensryche’s fans. It should be a real fun time for all.”

Earlier this month, the video for QUEENSRYCHE’s new single, “Home Again,” made its worldwide debut on Military.com (the largest military and veteran membership organization) and can now be seen on the band’s official website at http://www.queensryche.com/. The video features photos submitted by service members from all over the world.

As for the song, itself, it’s become a fan favorite along the tour. Performed by Geoff Tate and his 11-year-old daughter Emily, “Home Again” examines the emotional toll of war from two perspectives — Geoff singing from the soldier’s point of view and Emily singing the point of view of the child left behind.

Prior to the performances with Lita Ford, QUEENSRYCHE will be joining Chickenfoot (Sammy Hagar, Michael Anthony, Joe Satriani and Chad Smith) beginning Friday, September 25th, for three consecutive California performances in Berkeley, Valley Center and Universal City, respectively.

Also on the QUEENSRYCHE horizon is the forthcoming ShipRocked Cruise (http://www.getshiprocked.com/) which sets sail from Fort Lauderdale, Florida (to Ocho Rios, Jamaica and Grand Cayman) on November 15th for a five-day music festival on the sea. Those on the cruise will have an opportunity to be a part of a private QUEENSRYCHE-hosted wine gathering and drink Geoff Tate’s wine, Insania (http://www.threeriverswinery.com/). For an advance donation of $20, fans will have access to the special onboard event. All proceeds of the wine party will benefit the National Military Family Association, an organization that QUEENSRYCHE has been involved with since the inception of American Soldier.

Frontiers Records is Pleased to Announce The Signing of KEEL

September 20, 2009

KEEL has been signed to Frontiers Records for the release of a New Studio Album in Early 2010.

1985 KEEL exploded onto the hard rock scene with “The Right To Rock,” the
fastest-selling debut album in A&M Records’ history. That disc and its
successor “The Final Frontier” were both produced by Gene Simmons of KISS.
KEEL sold over two million albums and toured with/opened for icons such as
Bon Jovi, Motley Crue, Van Halen, and Aerosmith, winning Best New Band
honors in publications such as Circus, Metal Edge and Hit Parader. Radio and
MTV hits include “The Right To Rock,” “Tears Of Fire,” “Because The Night,”
“Somebody’s Waiting,” and “Rock N Roll Outlaw.”

The band announced their reunion last November, and enjoyed appearances at
major summer festivals such as Rocklahoma, South Texas Rock Festival, the
Mid West Rock Fest, and the M3 Rock Festival in Maryland, in addition to
sold-out headline shows in Hollywood and Phoenix. The energy and excitement
of these tour dates spawned a surge of creative activity, resulting in an
album’s worth of new material. This album, entitled “Streets Of Rock &
Roll,” will be the first new KEEL recording in twenty years.

KEEL promises this new release will continue in the tradition of their
previous efforts – fist-pumping crowd-pleasing hard rock anthems fueled by
screaming vocals and driven by powerful guitars. The project is being
produced by Pat Regan (Deep Purple, KISS, Warrant etc.) and will feature
guest appearances by Jaime St. James (Black N Blue) and Paul Shortino (Rough
Cutt, Quiet Riot) who is also producing and recording Ron’s lead vocal
sessions.

Frontiers Records will also release “The Right To Rock: 25th Anniversary
Edition,” exactly 25 years after this classic album first hit the streets.
This official reissue will be digitally remastered and will feature a brand
new recorded version of the title track, which is even louder and heavier
than the original. “The Right To Rock (Reunion Version)” features an
all-star vocal chorus, and the band is also inviting fans everywhere to sing
on the track: you can download a sample chorus on KEEL’s MySpace, add your
voice to the mix, send the band an MP3, and these will be mixed in to the
actual recording of this timeless classic. For details, visit the KEEL web
site www.keelband.com and the KEEL MySpace
www.myspace.com/keelband

Song titles that will be included on the forthcoming new studio release are
(in no particular order): Hit The Ground Running; Come Hell Or High Water;
Streets Of Rock & Roll; Push & Pull; Live; Brothers In Blood; The Devil May
Care; Looking For A Good Time; No More Lonely Nights; Hold Steady; Does
Anybody Believe; Gimme That; Reason To Rock (Reunion Version).

KEEL 2009 lineup includes Ron Keel on vocals, guitarists Marc Ferrari &
Bryan Jay, drummer Dwain Miller along with long time Ron Keel collaborator
Geno Arce on bass.

Dokken goes Viral for Virus Software Commercial?

September 16, 2009

Dokken wants to have its way with your chicken! Check out the hilarious new set of commercials for Symantec’s Norton Internet Security 2010. Don Dokken and his band scored “ungodly amounts of money” to appear in the ad, whose director actually rents a house from Don. Styx was originally scheduled to appear in the spot, but when they pulled out, Don was literally approached to do it in his driveway after a gig (the ad was recorded several days later). The narration goes like this: “Imagine this chicken is your hard drive and the eighties heavy metal band Dokken is a computer virus. Dokken does not like chicken. It wants to destroy it. The chicken, not knowing Dokken’s intentions, doesn’t really have any feelings either way. Now, you have a choice. Would you like to allow Dokken to have its way with your chicken, unleashing a wrath the likes of which the chicken has never seen, or would you like to deny it? Protect your chicken from Dokken. Deny digital dangers with Norton Internet Security 2010.” Check out all three versions here (each one has an alternate ending – our favorite is the first one!):

ABOUT LYNCH MOB

LYNCH MOB was formed by George Lynch, one of the few genuine guitar heroes of substance to emerge from the Los Angeles scene, after DOKKEN split up in 1989. The band’s first album, “Wicked Sensation”, went on to sell over 500,000 units in the U.S. and featured the talents of singer Oni Logan, Anthony Esposito on bass and another former DOKKEN member Mick Brown on drums. After a tour in support of QUEENSRŸCHE, Logan opted out, with Robert Mason taking his place on the follow-up self-titled release. However, Lynch and Brown eventually returned to DOKKEN, releasing two studio albums until he left again in late 1997 putting together a several new incarnations of LYNCH MOB and exploring new sounds with different projects.

However, Oni Logan and George Lynch would found themselves again in a studio in the summer of 2007. “We weren’t sure what was going to happen,” recalls George, “but as soon as I heard what Oni was coming up with just off the top of his head, I knew the old chemistry was still there. So we spent many months writing. The first batch of songs had almost a southern rock feel to them and there was quite a bit of acoustic and slide work on those. They also had a genuine ’70s vibe. These first songs had elements reminiscent of FLEETWOOD MAC, ZEPPELIN, BLACK CROWES, STONES and it was all very bluesy. We lived with those songs for a while then went in and did a second round of collaboration. We had tightened up as a band after touring over the summer and we consciously wrote the newer material with the ‘Wicked Sensation’ record in mind. So we updated the earlier songs a little and wrote a few more ‘adventurous’ track and went in to start recording.”

Joining the new lineup are bassist Marco Mendoza (WHITESNAKE, THIN LIZZY) and drummer Scot Coogan (BRIDES OF DESTRUCTION, ACE FREHLEY). More than a band, this team is guaranteed to create one of the most explosive shows you can ever experience and shines big time on the brand new recording which is set to bring back LYNCH MOB on the map of the most exciting hard rock bands around! “Marco Mendoza is literally a gift from Heaven,” continues Lynch. “How they figured out how to stuff all that talent and goodness into one person I’ll never know. they must have made a mistake at the factory! [Laughs] … then there’s Scot Coogan on drums…. baby of the band… he’s very solid, very ‘Bonham-esque’… not sure if that’s a real word!”

LYNCH MOB is ready to embark on a world tour in the fall 2009 to follow up the successful performance at Rocklahoma 2008 and to promote “Smoke and Mirrors”.

“We have been expecting to go out in a support situation with a bigger act in the fall of 2009 to coincide with the release of ‘Smoke and Mirrors’ and were also expecting to visit Europe as well,” says George Lynch. “It’s been way too long since I’ve played Europe and we need to tour there extensively… last time LYNCH MOB toured Europe was with QUEENSRŸCHE… and I think that was 1991!”
