Patrick’s Winning entry:
I have the best story of all. I grew up in French Canada in Quebec City. I saw Twisted Sister more times than I have fingers. First time was the You Can’t Stop Rock n’ Roll tour in a bar in Q.C. with Queensryche as a warm up act in 1983. I was under aged but I got in! After that, they used to come to town opening for different acts: Iron Maiden, Dio and more…they came to town twice a year! One show was Dio’s Last In Line tour and I was first row, right in front of Jay Jay! I rocked out and played air guitar during the whole show and at the end Jay Jay came to me directly to give me his guitar pick! I cherished that guitar pick with my life and took it with me wherever I’d go. I was 16 years old.
A lot of years went by and I got married and have four kids now. To my misfortune and with sadness I lost my precious authentic JAY JAY FRENCH guitar pick. Ten years went by and I kept on kicking myself for losing it and I even cried about it! I heard that Twisted Sister and Jay Jay were coming back to do a show at Manitoba Summer Fest and I saw the light! I knew it was the only way I could get it back — this one time chance.
So, we got there the earliest and stood all day in the sun waiting for TS and Jay Jay to come on! We were front row. When the show started I felt 16 again but this time I was seeing Twisted with my 10 and 12 year old sons and my wife who is 10 years younger than me. It was the ultimate feeling to rock with T.S. once again with my kids. They have seen it just like I did! The show was great and I was so happy! We were first row and I could tell that the boys on stage were grateful to see some rockin’ kids upfront and they came right up in our faces during the whole concert. We took a lot of great pictures too!
When the 10,000-plus people behind us started pushing us against the fence, some security dude told us to get behind the fence with the kids…so now we were right up against the stage. I turned around and there was Jay Jay standing two feet away from me. I shouted, “JAY JAY! Give me your pick, man!” and this was in the middle of playing a song and we were behind the P.A. so he heard me! He came up to me while strumming and said, “YOU WANT MY PICK, MAN?” and I said, “YYYEEEAAAAHHH!” and put up my open hand and Jay Yay gave me my Twisted Sister guitar pick back! I am tearing up as I am writing this. I turned to the crowd and raised it in the air and gave a 15 year old yell of victory and they all screamed back at me in honor!
It is the exact same one: pink with the TS logo on one side and Jay Jay’s autograph on the other side. It’s now in a frame in my living room and I look at it every day. That’s why Jay Jay French is my favorite Twisted Sister member. He always came through for me. I have been a S.M.F. for longer than anyone I know. The first album I got was Under The Blade which is still my favorite song to this day! Now that I have my TS guitar pick back…it would be nice to have the matching guitar! Dreams do come true!
Thanks, JAY JAY, and THANK YOU TWISTED SISTER for having and continuing to be with me and my kids for all our lives…YOU CAN’T STOP ROCK N’ ROLL!

TWISTED SISTER – Live At The Astoria
Two disc (CD + DVD) release – Explicit Version. The legend that is Twisted Sister return with their new live CD/DVD recorded at London’s Astoria Theatre on a very hot summer night in 2004. The critics hailed Twisted Sister’s performance as one of their greatest ever. If you’re an S.M.F. and have wondered what Twisted Sister thought about any of their live shows throughout their 35 year history, you should know this: while certain band members remember certain shows, and relate tales of particular performances as being their favorite, rarely does the band universally agree that any particular show is about as good as it gets. Each band member considered this show to be amongst the most special of their career. This concert was filmed and kept in a vault for the past four years. When the band had the opportunity to look at the footage, it brought back the heat, passion, intensity and audience participation that was a level far above all expectations. We look forward in sharing this magical performance with all of you!
