Guns N’ Roses Set Release Date For Chinese Democracy

October 29, 2008

From the we really, really, really, really mean it this time department, Guns N’ Roses has set November 23 as the release date for their long-awaited studio album, Chinese Democracy.

The new album will mark a gap of 17 years since the band released a studio album of original songs – the last new music we heard from the band was 1991’s Use Your Illusion I and II (‘93’s The Spaghetti Incident? was all cover tunes). Numerous songs from Democracy have been leaked over the long wait between albums – but there are still a few (okay, maybe three) that haven’t been heard live, or on a video game (“Shackler’s Revenge” on Rock Band 2) , a film (“If The World” from Body Of Lies) or via unauthorized online leaks.

Chinese Democracy will be sold exclusively through Best Buy and BestBuy.com and will be available in CD, album or digital download form. Fourteen tracks will run ya about $20 for vinyl and $12 for CD.

Check out the title track here.

And if you just read this to find out how you can score your free Dr Pepper (we SO KNOW YOU), you’ll be able to register at http://www.drpepper.com for a coupon for the free can o’ bubbly on the day of the album’s release (November 23).

Happy Halloween You Headbangers!

October 24, 2008

The celebration of Halloween in the Snider Household is second only to our celebration of Christmas (There’s a contrast for ya’!). Not only does the whole “creepy/scary” thing work for us and speak to our style (My wife and kids don’t call me Deemon for nothin’!), but it just so happens that my daughter Cheyenne was born on “All Hallows Ever” 1996! That’s right, my baby girl (and only daughter) was welcomed into this crazy world with her Daddy wearing a Leatherface mask in the delivery room! You heard me! As Howie Mandell used to say back when he was funny (Remember when he had hair?), “When do you get the chance!?”

As a result of my daughter’s birth, Halloween has taken on almost sacred proportions in my house. Even though Halloween is a potential financial bonanza for yours truly with appearances and performances, I NEVER work on Halloween. I just kick it old school with the fam. We decorate the hell out of the house (A major stop off point for all Trick or Treaters), get all dressed up, (No–I don’t wear my Twisted Sister costume! That’s for you guys to do on Halloween!), blast Van Helsing’s Curse (The greatest Halloween music of all time! www.vanhelsingscurse.com ) and give out the BIG candy bars (I have to…I’m a rockstar fo God’s sake!). It’s the best! And I wouldn’t have it any other way!

HAVE A GREAT (SAFE) HALLOWEEN EVERYBODY!
– Dee Snider 10/08

Dr Pepper will ante up sodas for Chinese Democracy pledge

October 23, 2008

When Dr Pepper promised to give everyone in America a free, no-strings-attached soda if Guns N’ Roses released their long-awaited Chinese Democracy album before the end of 2008, they probably thought they’d never have to pay up. Well, guess what? The soda’s on them!
If you can believe the GNR camp, a release date of November 23 has been set for the long overdue disc and Dr Pepper says they will make good on their offer. If you want to cash in on that free Dr Pepper, go to their website on 11/23 and get a coupon for one 20-ounce drink. But, if your name is Slash or Buckethead (former GNR members), you’re out of luck. Dr Pepper excluded those two from cashing in – hey, they can call us and we’ll be happy to send them a can!

Strangely, the control freaks in GNR didn’t even know about this promotion until they read about it this past March. In fact, Axl Rose was quoted as saying, “We are surprised and very happy to have the support of Dr Pepper with our album Chinese Democracy, as for us, this came totally out of the blue. If there is any involvement with this promotion by our record company or others, we are unaware of such at this time. And as some of Buckethead’s performances are on our album, I’ll share my Dr Pepper with him.” Hmmmmm, sounds legit.

Beatallica Grand Prize Contest Guitar Winner says Thanks!

October 13, 2008

Scott Hannah won the Grand Prize in our Beatallica contest, an autographed guitar. Here’s what he had to say, and a great pic of his son holding onto that guitar for dear life (Another rockstar in the making, eh?).

Greetings HOH,

I wanted to extend to you my thanks for the wonderful surprise I received in the mail the other day. I happened to be the grand prize winner of a Beatallica signed Dean ML X guitar from House of Hair and Beatallica.

I must admit, until last July, I had never heard of Beatallica. I had entered this contest hoping to win this guitar, regardless who had signed it. In July I received in the mail a copy of “Sgt. Hetfield’s Motorbreath Pub Band” and thought, okay this is all I won, and being a fan of both Metallica and the Beatles, I’ll give it a listen. I was blown away! You guys were awesome! Your album is smart, funny, and highly entertaining. I now have it in rotation on my iPod. Wishing to know more about your group, I visited your website and eventually found my way to Jeffrey James’s Beatallica Twist and Mosh Tour 2007. I was rewarded with an entertaining behind-the-scenes look at your band and European tour. It brought to mind the trips I made to Europe, and at this time of year, made me yearn for those big Bavarian beers!

I want you to know that this signed guitar is a prized item and will hold a place of honor in my collection (actually, it’s the only one in my collection, but you have to start somewhere.) I hope to hear more from your group, or better yet, see more of your group if you happen to make it out to Seattle to do a show. In the mean time, I’ll keep spinning your disc, singing your praises, and admiring my new Dean guitar – if I can prize it from my young son’s hands (see attached photo.) He intends to be rock star himself.

Cheers!
Scott Hannah
Seattle, WA

Newsflash: Guns N’ Roses To Release Chinese Democracy on Nov. 23rd

October 9, 2008

According to Billboard.com, the long awaited new Guns N’ Roses album Chinese Democracy is scheduled to be released exclusively through Best Buy on Sunday, November 23rd.

What we all really wanna know is, where is our free Dr Pepper?  You may remember that the soft drink giant offered a free can of soda to “everyone in America” (with the exception of former Gunners Slash and Buckethead) if Axl & co. managed to get the decade-plus-in-the-making album out in 2008.

“We’re waiting to hear about ‘Chinese Democracy’ just like all the other GNR fans,” Dr Pepper VP of marketing Tony Jacobs told Billboard. “But if the rumors are true, we’re putting the Dr Pepper on ice.”

Bret Michaels parks his “Rock of Love” Bus

October 7, 2008

TMZ is reporting that Bret Michaels has suspended production of his new reality TV show, “Rock of Love”, due to an accident in Illinois caused by a production crew member. VH1 issued the following statement,

A crew member from the 51 Minds Entertainment production of the upcoming ‘Rock Of Love Bus’ series on VH1 was involved in an auto accident on Interstate 57 in southern Illinois on Friday afternoon. The crew member, who is not an associate of Bret Michaels or part of his tour staff, was traveling alone to the next location stop for the series. The accident resulted in two fatalities in one car and injuries to two passengers in another vehicle. The crew member survived and has been released from the hospital. Local authorities continue to investigate.

Bret Michaels has requested that his participation in the production of the series be temporarily suspended in deepest sympathy as he attempts to reach out to the families of the victims. Traveling separately, Mr. Michaels had left Illinois early Friday morning and was not near the scene of the accident.

Michaels, 51 Minds Entertainment and VH1 extend their deepest sympathies to everyone involved in this terrible accident.

“As a father of two, I cannot even imagine what the families must be going through at this time. I will make every attempt to reach out to them to let them know that my heart and prayers are with them during their time of grief,” said Michaels in a statement.
